Thoughts of Pansies for a Spring Table

"Pray, love, remember: and there is pansies, that's for thoughts." ~ William Shakespeare

My daughter sent lovely flowers for Mother's Day, a glorious profusion of color! They graced the kitchen island for several days,

then I decided to use them as the centerpiece for a spring table that celebrates thoughts of my daughter.

I chose plates with a trellis design, topped by lovely antique dishes featuring sweet pansies that were a gift from Miss J several years ago.

Underneath are placemats scattered with flowers in shades of blue and lavender, a gift from my brother.

The flower theme is continued on the ceramic napkin rings. The delicate wildflowers are also in lavenders and blues.

The lush bouquet sits on a matching plate.

Sharing the center is a determined Labrador retriever carrying salt and pepper pails. This was also thoughtfully given to me by my daughter.

A close-up of the hand-painted dessert plates, which really shows the graceful strokes.

The other item in the center is a pair of crystal candlesticks that have deep purple bowls. I have two pairs as well as a pair in ruby red.

Through the French doors the garden awaits. I'm late getting started on designing and planting the garden. I hope to have photos soon.

Maybe I could get my lab Jake to help!

I love how the fresh flowers set the mood!

And how the antique plates seamlessly blend with recent dishware and contemporary elements.
