Cozy, Bright and Classic — A Holiday Table

It's early December — time for making lists, decorating homes, planning celebrations and having visions of sugarplums dance in our heads! For me December always includes setting holiday tables! Even before a single tree is put up, or garlands, wreaths, ornaments and figurines are unpacked, the dining room is decked out for Christmas.

Looking Back at Five Thanksgiving Tables

Thanksgiving is a wonderful holiday, full of family and friends and memories of those we miss. Grounded in tradition through favorite recipes and holiday decor, Thanksgiving nevertheless provides a chance to tweak traditions a bit or create new ones.

Above all, Thanksgiving is a celebration, so I like to set a table that's special! Today I thought I'd share five of the tables I've set in other years that I hope will inspire you to make your own table special! Just click on the titles to see more of each post.

Although Thanksgiving can suggest a crowd, in A Thanksgiving Table for Four I showed how a smaller table can be set with just as much ceremony. Pumpkins and acorns join magnolia leaves for a low centerpiece.

Fall Decor Here and There

I've spread a bit of fall decor here and there — and I thought I'd share it in case you're still in the midst of getting ready for Thanksgiving!

I was entranced with the morning light streaming into the front rooms of the house this week as summer temps finally gave way to cooler (and drier) autumn weather.

Patterns in Blue for Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving will be here before you know it — the holiday when we give thanks for all the good things in life. And the best way to celebrate is around a table, sharing traditions, good food and good spirits with family and friends!

I truly enjoy setting tables, but especially those for holidays! Although we will be traveling to our daughter's for Thanksgiving, I've still set a Thanksgiving table that we will use the following week.  So the table I've designed is not quite formal, but still elegant. It's based on patterns in blue spiced with copper accents.

Styling the Foyer for Fall with a Tray

If you want to decorate for autumn but don't know where to start, one of the easiest ways is to group your favorite fall items together on a tray. By styling them this way and placing the tray near your front door you'll create a lovely autumn welcome for all visitors to your home!

Thank you for joining me and a creative group of bloggers today for a tour of our autumn trays

Welcome to Ghostly Hollow!

I love to decorate for Halloween! There's such a range of spooky, whimsical, or scary themes to choose from and you are limited only by your imagination!

Mums Lead the Way to Fall

September has arrived, a bridge between summer and fall. And leading the way towards fall are the glorious mums blooming in gardens and yards! I couldn’t resist following them so I set a table with a beautiful bouquet as the centerpiece.

A Wisteria Garden Table

Welcome! Come join me in the garden room where I've styled a table built around the beautiful wisteria-patterned tablecloth that I received from my husband and my daughter for my birthday. A garden inspired table is always a delight to set, especially this summer when it's just been too hot to actually dine on the deck or patio.

The tablecloth has an off-white background, covered with trailing vines. The wisteria blossoms are done in pretty shades of blue and lavender/lilac. The tablecloth is accompanied by linen napkins in a lovely cornflower blue which they also gave me.

A Tropical Beach Tray: Dreaming of Travel

Where do you dream of traveling to? Top of the list for my husband is a beach — the more tropical the better! So I styled a tray to tide him over until we get the chance to vacation at the beach!

Summertime Blossoms on the Table

I'm delighted that you're joining me today for a tablescape that captures the feel of early summer starring summertime blossoms!

I found my inspiration in lovely vibrant linens that I purchased back in February when spring — not to mention summer! — seemed far away.

Vintage Glass: All the Colors of the Rainbow

I have been super busy for the last month it seems, and it will be another week or so before I can show you the tablescape I've been thinking of. So I thought I'd share the last of the photos I took at the glass show last fall. The 44th Vintage and Collectible Glass Show was hosted in October by the Peach State Depression Glass Club. Links to the previous posts are listed below.

I called this 'All the Colors of the Rainbow' to convey the variety of colors and patterns that can be found in vintage glassware, and to reveal the myriad shapes that glass can take in the hands of skilled artisans.

Let's begin!

I love the swirls of color!

A Field of Tulips on a Spring Table

One of the most thrilling things in the spring is the sight of bright green shoots rising from the earth in the garden. The first belong to the crocuses and daffodils, followed in short order by TULIPS! The buds open in a rainbow of colors and it's just spectacular!

Spring Colors in Vintage Glassware

Sunday's official start to Spring reminded me that I hadn't yet shared the next installment of vintage glassware from the 44th Vintage and Collectible Glass Show, hosted in October by the Peach State Depression Glass Club. It seemed appropriate to choose glassware in lovely bright greens that call to mind new leaves, and vivid yellows that are everywhere in garden daffodils. Enjoy!

An Elegant Home Office — The Reveal

The past two years have seen a lot of changes in our lives. One of them was a dual event — in January 2020, Greg retired from his position and set up his consultant business. For that he needed an office. Coincidentally, our daughter had just moved to another city to accept a paid internship and begin studying for a Master's degree. Thus a room that had been hers was available!

The next six months involved choosing a design theme, selecting paint colors and drapery fabric, and ordering furniture that was both business functional and appropriate for the style of the rest of our home.

A Little Romance for Valentine's Day

In these strangest of times, I'm looking forward to a little romance for Valentine's Day! I've eagerly set a table for two that whispers 'love'.

Lovingly prepared foods, effervescent champagne, chocolate mousse for dessert. Feeling cozy in the midst of winter. A bit of poetry to set the mood. Romance is in the air!

The Blues of Vintage Glassware

Hello! I've got quite a treat for you today! After a 15-month hiatus, the 44th Vintage and Collectible Glass Show was hosted in October by the Peach State Depression Glass Club. There weren't as many vendors, but they more than made up for it by bringing many more pieces of gorgeous vintage and antique glassware. I bought a few and in the process took lots of photos to share with you!

Without further delay, I'm going to start with The Blues!

A Calendar of Tables

Here’s to the New Year and a farewell to the Old! In the spirit of the holiday, I'm resolving to celebrate the little things in life that bring comfort and joy, or add beauty and warmth. Like a wonderfully set table that welcomes friends and family and adds a certain something to great food and wine.

So on a quiet New Year's Day weekend, I thought I’d take a look back at some tables I styled this year! (Click on the titles to see the full posts.)
