A Tray Full of Bunnies

Hello and welcome! Today I'm joining Katherine from Katherine's Corner who has brought together a fabulous group of stylists for an Easter on a Tray blog tour. I'm sure you'll agree that this group has creative ideas for designing trays for entryways, coffee tables, kitchen islands and more!

If you're coming from Masterpieces of My Life, I'm so glad you're here! And if you're a regular reader of Dinner at Eight, welcome back!

I like creating seasonal vignettes throughout my house, and the coming of spring is a particularly lovely time of year to do so. Tending to be on the somewhat smaller side, vignettes can be styled on tabletops in any room to brighten an area or tie in to larger decorations in another part of the house. I've set this tray on the chest in the front entry.

Don't know where to begin to create an Easter vignette? One of the simplest ways is to gather your favorite spring items and place them together on a tray. Arranged this way they have a larger collective impact and will make a charming statement in your home. Or a whimsical one, as I did here!!

I have a steadily increasing collection of bunnies that gleefully make their appearance every spring, especially at Easter. So of course some hopped onto my tray! These cute little guys are the color of the ones that usually appear in my garden about now.

Here and there I've placed faux leaves in a bright Spring green and added lilacs in their signature color. (Faux unfortunately, since real lilacs are not to be found in north Georgia gardens.)

At some point I had bought these colorful Easter eggs, but had never used them. Their deeper pastel hues play off the sweet egg cups.

I filled a cute pink and blue mini basket with more eggs.

The bold orange of the carrots really pops! (Because you can't have bunnies without carrots, lol!)

The tray itself is a heavy silverplate gallery tray, pierced along the sides. The oval shape feels fresh and I love its ornate feet.

The vase of tulips I borrowed from the dining room (see A Field of Tulips on a Spring Table for more Easter inspiration!) adds height to the vignette. The sleek vertical lines of the vase are a counterpoint to the lower mass of the tray.

I think the whimsy of my tray full of bunnies captures the joyful exuberance of spring and the Easter season!

I know you'll want to continue the tour to enjoy all the Easter trays! Next on the list is the lovely tray styled by Katherine's Corner. Afterwards, continue on by clicking the individual images below.

  4. Love this Sandra! Those bunnies are just the sweetest! I do not believe you can ever have too many bunnies. Your tray is everything "spring" and it all came together perfectly. No surprise there since your tablescapes always amaze me. Lilacs are my favorite flower and I have several faux arrangements around the house. With the elevation here, ours never bloom much before mid May. Thanks so much for the inspiration and I wish you a beautiful Easter weekend!

    1. Thanks so much, Denise, for your lovely comments on my tray and my tablescapes! I had a lone, rather small lilac when I lived in Ohio ages ago and I really miss its scent. It must be so nice to have them blooming by you. Have a wonderful Easter!

  8. Sandra, I like your gather and design idea. It really seems the best way to create a pretty tray like the one you put together! The egg cups are really a nice touch as well as the eggs. I have two egg cups somewhere in my home:)
I need to take inspiration from you and see how I can fashion them into a nice looking tray vignette for the future.
    Happy Easter Hugs,
    Rachell

    1. Thanks, Rachelle! I often find that when I like things by themselves, I like them even better in a group. And it usually feels more festive. At least with bunnies, lol! It's fun touring with you! Happy Easter
