Welcoming Spring with a Fluffle of Bunnies

We're welcoming spring in the garden with daffodils and tulips, and flowering deciduous magnolias, redbuds and cherry trees. And I'm welcoming spring on the table with a fluffle of bunnies! What is a "fluffle"? It's the cutest term for a group of bunnies! They can also be called a "colony" but where's the fun in that?

I'm happy to be joining a group of wonderfully creative stylists for a Spring Tablescape Blog Hop organized by Rita of Panoply! All the links in the blog hop are provided at the end of this post.

Where to start? I envisioned my fluffle of bunnies at home in both the woods and the garden.

I started with a tablecloth covered in meadow flowers and butterflies, then chose woven chargers of dark rattan.

Next up were dinner plates with an interesting textural border, followed by lovely salad plates featuring four different scenes of bunnies and flowers.

For the centerpiece I used a variety of faux spring flowers in a pretty purple vase. I would have liked to use flowers from my garden but I'm in between bloom times.

All sorts of flowers are blooming on the napkins! Flowers from both the meadow and garden are represented and I just love the mix of vibrant colors.

I love each of the four plate designs, but I think this last one is my favorite.

I delight in unpacking my collection of porcelain bunnies each spring. Today I'm gathering the larger ones in the center of the table around the vase, almost as though the bunnies are taking shelter under the flowers.

A mischievous bunny pops out of a teapot!

Adorable baby bunnies frolic on mom's back.

Iced tea glasses have lovely blue stems that echo the color of some of the butterflies on the tablecloth.

This bunny looks rather wary, don't you think?

These two flower-bedecked bunnies are a lidded box and a sugar bowl.

Bunnies and butterflies are scattered around the hem of the tablecloth.

Vintage napkin rings found their way into my shopping basket last summer.

Scattered by each place setting are pairs of salt and pepper shakers, each one cuter than the last.

A fifth pair has found themselves on the buffet with the largest of my rabbits. He's dressed for the occasion with a jaunty bow.

A fluffle of bunnies adds charm and whimsy to any spring table!

They would also be perfect gracing the table for an Easter lunch.

Thank you for joining me today! Please continue on to the table from Rebecca at the Zucchini Sisters and then circle back to any that you might have missed. You are sure to find inspiration from these marvelous tablescapers!

Sandra you certainly do have a Fluffle of bunnies. I have a fluffle of bunnies on my table too. Isn't Spring wonderful? new birth and new blooms. We have some new bunnies but they are so fast and hop away before I could get a good photo of them. I love your pretty plates and lovely flowers faux or real. Our weather today started at 49 degrees which is pretty cool for Florida....but I certainly understand being in between blooms. Your collection of bunny salt and pepper shakers are adorable. How nice that each place setting have their own set. So glad to have been able to blog hop with you...we learn so much about each other and what we collect. Bunnies are perfect for you as you are so bubbly and happy much like your collection. Have a great Spring and wonderful Easter my friend.

    1. Thank you, Kari, for your sweet comments. In a way the coming of spring brings with it a release from the rather serious tables we've been setting since fall. And bunnies are perfect for providing the smiles. Though I admit to a bit of aggravation at all the tulips the real ones have munched on in my garden. After last week's cold snap hovering around 32, we're once again awash in rain. So being able to enjoy all the spring tables on the blog hop is doubly wonderful! Hugs

  8. Sandra, your fluffle of bunnies are adorable. We have an abundance of bunnies in our garden and they are cute as long as they don’t eat the flowers. The tablecloth is the perfect foundation for your dark chargers and lovely bunny plates. The floral napkins and cute bunny napkin rings add more charm to your table. It is always a treat to join you at one of your beautiful tables. Happy Spring!

    1. Thanks so much, Pam! Bunnies are so delightful, whether on the table or in the wild. But I agree that in the garden . . . not so much LOL. I've been collecting the fluffle for a long time, but never used quite so many at once. The latest additions were the bunny napkin rings. Have a wonderful week!

  10. Sandra, your fluffle are incredibly adorable, so many different ones! Oh my, you must go to a lot of trouble storing them so as not to chip them. I can't decide which one(s) I like best, but the synergy of the sum of the whole is certainly is greater than any one individually. I love the WS Floral Meadow, and that tablecloth is such a beautiful base here. Those stems are gorgeous too. How fun it would be to be a guest here. Thank you for bringing the fluffle to us, and I wish you a very happy spring!

    1. Thanks so much, Maureen, for your sweet comments! I love the tablecloth too -- it's kind of a shame that the central design gets covered up when you set the table and add a centerpiece. Bu!t then it's pretty on its own.

    1. Thank you, Rebecca! I love the s/p shakers too! Most of them have small matching plates or baskets that up the cuteness factor, but didn't work on this table. I so enjoyed how everyone on the hop had fun with the theme.

  22. Sandra, you are so right, you have quite a fluffle of bunnies! I did know they were called a fluffle, since recently my sister and I were discussing the unique names of of different groups of animals...but enough with that. YOUR bunnies are adorable! Oh how I wish I had room to store so many bunnies! Yours are all so pretty and unique, the figurines, the salt and pepper shakers, even those little napkin rings! It is like you could style your table any way you wanted, but by adding those bunnies, it becomes all springtime and Eastery (I don't think that is a word, but I think you get it! Happy spring and happy Easter!

    1. Thanks so much for your lovely comments, Jennifer! I'm glad my fluffle gave you some smiles today. I usually only use a couple at a time on a table, but I wanted to reflect the exuberance of spring life.

I completely understand about your cats. We had one who loved playing with breakable things and we caught her dropping Christmas ornaments down the steps and watching until they broke. Then went back for another!! Hope you have a wonderful Spring week!
