The saying goes "If you're lucky enough to be Irish, you're lucky enough!"
So I must be lucky enough, having a large portion of Irish DNA in me! And I love to celebrate St. Patrick's Day by singing Irish folk songs (never mind they're off-key), shouting Slainté while raising my glass, and decorating my house with green and gold and a sprinkling of Celtic patterns.
I thought you'd like to see a few of the tables I've styled to get some inspiration for your own celebrations March 17. Just click on the title of each post to see all the details! In several posts I included bonus photos that I took on vacation in Ireland.
I started with a beautiful scarf that I bought in Dublin at Trinity College as a table runner for Celtic Patterns for the Table. I love the repeating Celtic patterns in a yellowish green on an emerald background.
I am mesmerized by the intricate designs of Celtic patterns and was excited to find salad plates with these types of design. They are the focal points of A Table in Green and White with Pops of Color. Fresh flowers from my garden added the pop!
Simple Elegance for St. Patrick's Day was all about using shamrocks and various types of vintage glassware in lovely shades of green with gold accents.
Daffodils and Irish Spring Colors brought an unusual color choice to the table. Along with a dose of whimsical sheep!
My first Table for St. Patrick's Day on the blog was inspired by the stash of decor items I used when my daughter was small.
"May your blessings outnumber
the shamrocks that grow."
"May your troubles be less and your blessings be more
And nothing but happiness come through your door."
* The details for the items used on the tables can be found in each post.
Sandra, what a gorgeous collection of St. Patrick's day tables you have here! You definitely have some lovely items in your stash - the scarf is beautiful and the celtic plates are so pretty. Thank you for sharing all your inspiration and wishing you a happy almost St. Patrick's day!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Kim! I've collected St Patrick's day items for a long time, adding new ones every now and then. It's fun when I get to use them on tables or vignettes!
DeleteSandra,
ReplyDeleteAll beautiful tablescapes...Saint Patrick's Day is very big here in NEPA...a huge population of Irish descendants here with the annual Saint Patrick's Day parade in Scranton being one of the biggest in the country...

DeleteMy children are a mix of my Scots-Irish-Polish heritage and their dad's pure Irish; and I wondered WHY they were stubborn!!! I love doing housework to rousing Tommy Makem and the Clancy Brothers music. Sea chanties played louder than the central vac works for me--no close neighbors! My Easter village is sitting on an machine embroidered table runner with shamrocks and pearls. I realized, though, I don't have enough Irish accessories!
ReplyDeleteWell you've just gotta get some! Since my daughter is now grown I've started adding a different type of accessory -- but they're all great! Thanks so much for visiting, Kathy, and telling me about your Irish heritage.
