Hopping into Spring

I can always tell that spring has truly arrived when I see bunnies hopping through my garden! They have already begun nibbling my flowers and the fresh green shoots growing through the mulch.

With bunnies as my inspiration, I set a spring table that featured two types of bunnies with a garden's worth of carrots!

I bought the carrot napkins a year or two ago, but had never used them. While orange isn't the first color that comes to mind for spring, I liked the fresh shades of it on the napkins. Light green placemats invoke the color of new leaves in spring.

The black and white bunnies have a sassy attitude as they help themselves to the carrots in the center of the table.

Underneath one of the bunnies I used a green glass bowl to elevate it a bit above the others.

For drink ware I'm using vintage glasses I found at one of the vintage glass shows I attended. Their amber color complements the gold flatware and the bands on the plate rims.

At each place setting I've included a carrot shaped cookie tied with orange tulle.

Browsing eBay I stumbled upon carrot salt and pepper shakers that seemed made for this table! I especially liked the ceramic basket they came in.

Another online search found wooden bunny napkin rings that stand up reasonably well when a napkin is pulled through. A pretty green ribbon completed the look.

The table is set for three, with the fourth place inhabited by a large white rabbit who is also adorned with a bright green ribbon.

You may remember him from a simple vignette on the kitchen island. Here he has claimed a few carrots for himself!

I love the flowers etched into the iridescent water glasses. The glass is a round shape set on a square base. Vintage glassware patterns are a trove of pretty colors and interesting designs and shapes.

I added some faux greenery to the bunches of carrots.

The table is set simply, with a carefree design and fresh spring colors.

I think I'll use this tablescape for lunches throughout spring!

After much anticipation, spring has hopped right in! And with it a renewal of spirit that all of us have needed.

My husband is doing really well, thank you. He has begun to work a bit each week -- next week he can start driving.

    1. Thank you, Astrid! I thought it was a cheerful shade of orange. I actually get rather a lot of wildlife in my garden, surprising since I'm in the suburbs of Atlanta, but not that far from the Appalachian foothills. Besides bunnies I have visits from deer, hawks, great horned owls, possums and the occasional coyote. The bunnies and deer are fun to watch, but not so much when they're eating my flowers! I'm so glad you stopped by!

    1. Thanks so much, Donna! I thought the napkins were both grown-up and whimsical. I don't particularly like looking online for fun accents, but I'm glad I found the napkin rings this way!

  10. Your napkins were a good choice to use with your Easter table. Orange isn't my first color choice either but it works great for your table. Such cute little bunnies.

    1. Thank you, Judy! I think the napkins work for spring because they're more like the color of sherbet, rather than fall pumpkin colors.
