Snow fell across the foothills and mountains of north Georgia last week, more than any year since 2018. Kids in our neighborhood celebrated with snow ball fights and snowmen. All of which inspired me to set a snowy wonderland table!
The view from our front door as flakes settled quietly on the lawn and in the garden. I took our two black labs for a quick stroll before the snowfall was replaced by freezing rain coating everything in ice.
Inside there was only snow drifting across the table. Snowmen played on the plates and mugs given to me by my sister several years ago. Snow crystals shimmered in the drifts, created by the folds of a fluffy throw.
A thoughtful snowkid spreads birdseed on the ground . . .
as his friend rescues a cardinal.
To keep the shimmer going, silver placemats were laid beneath the plates and crystal rings hold the snow-white napkins finished in Battenberg lace that resembles the patterns of snowflakes. I hadn't realized that Battenberg lace, a type of tape lace, was first made in America in the mid-1800's.
Here's Finn surveying the backyard. In his three short years he had only seen light dustings of snow before.
Beyond the table you can see our village tree which we leave up after the holidays since it's all about wintry scenes.
The village is nestled in drifts of snow. The tree itself is designed to display a village on several tiered layers of MDF edged with pine boughs.
Greg painted all the buildings in the village, then found bottlebrush trees and figures such as these cute kids.
A girl pulls a snowman on a sled past the shops.
And of course kids playing with their pups in the snow!
Lower on the mountain can be found the scene from our tablescape.
A perfect spot for a yummy dessert and a steaming cup of hot chocolate!
I hope you get a chance to enjoy a snowy wonderland! Fingers crossed — it's supposed to snow again on Tuesday!

What a great table setting...and beautiful decorations. Enjoy the snow...we are getting more today and COLD!
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute table, Sandra. Your GA snow is what I don't mind - here today, gone tomorrow. Unfortunately, we are STILL under snow and ice from Jan 6 and 11 storms, now this polar vortex that arrived yesterday. I'm over it!
