Hot Pink for an August Table

I thought I'd match the heat of August with a hot pink table! I would have liked to set this outside, but the tropical storm dumped 2.75 inches of rain on us and everything on the patios is still quite wet. So we're inside where the heat is offset (thankfully!) by the A/C.

My initial idea was to use the garden's zinnias for the centerpiece, but they're in no condition to use after the heavy rains and the winds. To the rescue came faux flowers in hot pink and deep gold with cooler whites and purples!

Table linens in two patterns of vining blossoms and petite leaves bring the pinks to the table settings.

A demure collection of summer blooms grace the verge of the salad plates. I set them on my everyday trellis dinner plates which have a green rim just like the salad plates. You can see other posts with my everyday dishes in Summer Bounty and Falling for Apples.

I've used the vintage cache pot lots of times! It was made in Portugal as were the candlesticks.

The napkin rings continue the hot summer floral theme. I particularly like the black and white ribbon wrap on the rings.

Another antique mall find are the aqua ombre iced tea glasses. Love the abstract thistle design on these mid-century modern beauties!

Although I only wanted to buy six of the salad plates at the antique mall, the dealer dropped the price if I would take all 13. The best negotiation profits both sides!

Silver-toned chargers and flatware cool down the place settings.

What's better than hot pink for an August table?!

  2. I love pink, it's great any time of year! I love your bright pretty flowers in the square vase and the napkin rings are so pretty! The plate stack is lovely too, and so are the pretty pink fabrics on the napkins and runner. I hope you're having a wonderful summer Sandra!

    1. Thanks so much, Jenna! I love to use pinks, especially the deep vibrant ones. I suppose because I had so little natural light with the rains the pinks were especially intense and rather hard to photograph because of it, lol.

  3. Pretty table, Sandra! I love your everyday plates and this combination you created. The centerpiece candlesticks and cache pot are classics! We were inundated with rain all last week as a result of Fred, too. I'm looking forward to a cooldown (doesn't look like this week is promising for that), and and eye toward Fall. Have a great week.

    1. Thank you, Rita! I enjoy trends as much as anyone, but I always gravitate toward classic patterns. I've got my fingers crossed that we'll get to dry out this week, but so far we've not been lucky. Quite a difference from our usual August!

    1. Thanks, Donna! So far this month we've gotten twice as much rain as we usually do in August!

  5. Sandra, I love any shade of pink and your table is eye catching. The faux arrangement in the cache pot is lovely. We have also had a lot of rain this summer, and my zinnias are not doing as well as former years. It is always a joy to virtually sit at your table.

    1. Thanks for your lovely comments, Pam! The vibrant pinks were a challenge to photograph with only indoor lighting. I have to admit I wouldn't mind a bit of a dry spell and let the garden rest!

  8. Sandra, I am a lover of pink too and your table is gorgeous! Love the hot pink table runner and napkins paired with the softer pink salad plates and your everyday dinner plates. The Portuguese cache and candle holders are just perfect for the table and the flowers are lovely. Thanks for sharing all your inspiration and I hope you are staying cool down there!

    1. Thanks so much, Kim! I loved how all the table elements came together. I have to admit the pinks in the linens showed up more vibrant in the photos than they did when I set the table, so I was very glad I had used the greens and silvers, lol. We're only going to hit the low nineties but more rain is on the way so we're in for lots of humidity.

    1. Thanks, Judy! Strong cheerful colors stand up to the heat, don't they? I have really enjoyed using the refreshing greens of the ceramic pieces during the summer.

    1. Barbara, thank you! Our local antique market is only open for three days on the third weekend of every month, and while it pays to go early for the best hunting, the best bargains can be found on Sundays! Enjoy your weekend!
