For me that song is 'The Twelve Days of Christmas', one of the three or four songs that takes me back to the girl sitting on the floor of the living room wrapping presents, trying to be creative, and realizing that making bows was not her forte!
𝆕 On the twelfth day of Christmas
My true love gave to me 𝅘𝅥𝅯
Twelve drummers drumming
Eleven pipers piping
Ten lords a-leaping
Nine ladies dancing
Eight maids a-milking
Seven swans a-swimming
Six geese a-laying
Five golden rings
Four calling birds
Three French hens
Two turtle doves
And a partridge in a pear tree
I love the gold trim and the repeated use of holly, berries and ribbons on the verge of the plates. I love the details added to each design, and that the names of the days are written prettily in gold. I didn't mind a bit that they were collected over a number of years!
I styled three very different tables with these lovely dishes. To see the table done with days nine through twelve, go to Twelve Drummers Drumming. To view the one featuring days five through eight, go to On the Fifth Day of Christmas. And to visit the beginning of it all, see A Partridge in a Pear Tree!
