Fall Decor Here and There

I've spread a bit of fall decor here and there — and I thought I'd share it in case you're still in the midst of getting ready for Thanksgiving!

I was entranced with the morning light streaming into the front rooms of the house this week as summer temps finally gave way to cooler (and drier) autumn weather.

I cleared off the round table in front of the living room windows where a vintage carafe set and a framed photo had sat throughout the summer.

A golden pheasant and glass pumpkins were entwined by a mini garland of fall leaves. In the back I placed a silver coffee pot that's part of a set made in the 1920's, and filled it with faux rudbeckia. The tableau is just enough to bring the outside view inside.

Throughout the year I enjoy styling the bottom shelf of the hutch in the kitchen where I keep my vintage crystal and glassware. Sometimes I use a seasonal theme; at other times I design it just to enjoy dishware that I haven't used recently. I've occasionally shared those vignettes here on the blog, but others I've only posted on Instagram.

I love the line drawings/watercolor paintings of fall leaves and berries. I've added a selection of pumpkins, acorns and berries to echo the predominant colors on the plates.

I just love these salad plates! You can see them used in tablescapes in Understated Pumpkins and Russet and Olive.

After I put away the Halloween decor in the garden/game room, I decided the buffet was looking a bit bare. I retrieved more pumpkins from my stash (I think they're re-seeding themselves in there LOL) as well as the pert pheasant and a copper bowl I picked up in an antique mall. The bowl has a single brass ring on the back side which makes me think that it's a mixing bowl.

I also seem to have an evergrowing collection of faux florals in autumn colors! They were just enough to dress up the mantel in the family room. I like their colors and their softening effect on the stacked stone of the fireplace.

I shared the way I styled the foyer with a tray in a post earlier this season. The quail makes me smile every time I pass by!

And of course my Thanksgiving table is adorned with more quintessential fall decor!

I will continue to enjoy the fall scenes throughout the Thanksgiving weekend!

  1. Very nice, Sandra. I also get captivated sometimes by the way light comes through the windows, and start snapping photos. I will likely start transforming to Christmas soon, but I've enjoyed fall decor in my home since early September. We share Thanksgiving at a sister-in-law's, so it allows me plenty of space and time to make the transition at home.

    1. Thanks, Rita! I try to do one holiday at a time. Though I've bought a new tree and some ornaments, I won't begin to decorate for Christmas until after Thanksgiving. I seem to enjoy each holiday more that way.

  2. Sandra, you fall decor is lovely. I love your stacked stone fireplace. We have a stone wall in our dining room that I love. Warm and cozy. Enjoy your Thanksgiving. Your blogger profile is missing your photo.

    1. Thanks Linda! I love the stone fireplace against the sky blue walls with the trees visible through the window. I'll have to look into the profile photo issue. I see it on my laptop.

  3. Sandra, I tried to comment last night but it wasn't clear if the comment went through. What I wanted to say is that your fall decor is lovely. The light shining on the glass pumpkins is so pretty and the pheasant looks perfect beside them. I love the colors of your flowers on the mantel - so fall and so bright. We have snow here so your fall display is particularly cheery to me. I hope you have a wonderful upcoming Thanksgiving!

    1. Kim, thanks for taking the trouble to try commenting again. I appreciate it! Here in Georgia fall has only really just arrived with morning temps in the 30s-40s. We had a delayed autumn, but the leaves have finally begun to fall. But many still carry their leaves of many colors so my interior decorations still match the outside.
