Hot Chocolate for Christmas

I have been admiring all the Christmas decor I've been seeing. I haven't gotten far decorating our house; in fact I've only managed to design a spot for serving hot chocolate on the kitchen island.

In my defense, I dislocated my patella when my knee buckled under me while walking my dog a little over a week ago. Good-natured Jake was not amused that his walk had been cut short — we had only completed about a third of our usual distance. But he stood watching over me until my husband was able to get me in the car. It was incredibly painful and I have only been able to walk with the help of crutches ever since. The doc said I was lucky, nothing broken, the patella self-corrected. Crossing my fingers I'll get good news when I go to my follow-up this week.

The teapot belonged to Greg's grandmother along with a matching cake plate. Both can be seen in Christmastime Accented with Red. The tree design on the teapot dates to 1938 although the teapot itself is newer.

The vintage mugs were collected over time, primarily on eBay. I like the contrast of the 1970's Christmas trees on the mugs with the traditional design on the teapot.

The jaunty sparrow in his woolen cap and sweater makes me smile every time I hobble past him!

Jake waiting patiently for his next walk!

I hope you are enjoying the beginning of the holiday season!

    1. Thanks, Thelma! It was very painful; all the muscles and tendons above and below the knee are wrenched at once. Apparently it could have been worse, ugh. I'm glad you stopped by!

  6. Sandra, I hope you get a good report when you go back to the doctor, that sounds very painful. I love your cute hot chocolate set up. The tea pot really caught my eye, as did the little sparrow. I hope you can put away the crutches soon.

  7. I just found your blog a couple of weeks back. Love your style! I am particularly drawn to your Christmas tablescapes of past years -- most especially those that use the "all the days of Christmas" plates. I had not seen these before and I was quite taken. I became a woman on a mission and thanks to Ebay, received days 4-8 yesterday; expecting 1-4 soon. The last four will have to wait. And that's okay -- I'm a happy gal! Thanks for sharing. Hope you'll be back to 100% soon!
