The perfect inspiration for a spring table that's easing into summer!
For a deep blue background, I chose placemats that I've used in other summer tablescapes, such as Under the Sea and A Casual Fourth of July.
To replicate the changing blues of the sky, I decided on swirling glass plates in a turquoise that shifts with the light, and salad plates that feature nesting birds in spring.
Birds have alighted on a figural candle holder.
Deep blue napkin rings encircle carefree napkins that bring summer flowers to mind.
Crystal stemware is a cool counterpart with a modern edge. They have a nice weight in the hand that balances their height. An antique mall find.
All the blues are compatible, moving from light to dark and out to green.
Salt and pepper shakers bring more cheerful birds to the table!
Today's photos were taken on a drizzly day, but I always enjoy the view out the windows. We have a number of large trees in our back yard that nearly hide the houses behind us and provide lots of welcome shade in the summer.
The trees are home to several nests, a variety of visiting songbirds and the occasional hawk.
I find myself using these lovely plates in endless spring tablescapes.
A bit of summer, a bit of spring. And lots of blue skies!
