Halloween in Black and White

Are you ready for Halloween? We've always enjoyed decorating for Halloween, but are getting a bit of a late start.

I was inspired by all the black and white themed Halloween tables I've seen this year and thought I'd try my hand at one. I'd love to hear what you think of mine.

I layered a lacy spider web tablecloth over the muted cloth I used for the First Tablescape of the Fall. This lets the web pattern show while giving just a hint of color to an otherwise neutral table.

Next came black chargers, edged with bats and skulls. Atop the chargers are bright white dinner and salad plates, with a graphic napkin laid between, finished with haunted house appetizer plates.

The center of the table is relatively subdued for Halloween, with vases of flowers and ornate candle holders that have an Old World feel.

But then of course there's the skeletons, who seem to have perched themselves on the candle holders!

And the salt and pepper shakers that are frightfully irresistible!

The black glass vases were last weekend's finds at the antique mall. The one with the handles was made during the Egyptian Revival period of the 1930's. I don't yet know the manufacturer/pattern of the one with the tripod base, but it probably dates from the 1930's-1950's. Both vases hold black roses and white carnations.

More skeletons are cavorting in the cauldrons! (Thanks, Cecilia, for your typewriter inspiration 💀.)

A bit of elegance is provided by the black stemmed wine glasses.

Overall, a polished table, with a twist of Halloween humor!

    1. Thanks so much, Kim! There are so many ways that you can decorate for Halloween and each is more fun than the last! The glass vases are gorgeous in person too -- there wasn't as much black glass produced in the early 20th century so it's fun to find.
