when Halloween nears -- witches appear!

Welcome! Come on in! Halloween's not far off, so join us 'round the table inspired by Shakespeare's song of the witches.

"Double, double toil and trouble;

Fire burn and cauldron bubble."

I like to use the traditional Halloween colors of black and orange, leavened with white and minimal accent colors. Four colorful salad plates, each with a different design, sit on white plates.

Where did all the spiders come from?

In the center sits a silvered container with faux roses and carnations.

Cute ghosts wave at the witches who have settled on graphic black and white napkins.

I've used my favorite spider web tablecloth, bunching it here and there for casual texture.

Soaring above the table is a fabulous witch on her broom, obviously enjoying herself!

The candle holders were retrieved from their usual spot on top of the kitchen cabinets. I love their aged, ornate look, appropriate for a witch's table!

Those pesky spiders are scampering across the books of spells and potions.

The footed bowl holds who-knows-what!

I borrowed Greg's vintage decanter and tray from the bar area. The color is a perfectly ghoulish purple.

Matching glasses will no doubt serve mysterious potions.

I played a bit with her portrait, mimicking an old daguerreotype.

Happy Halloween !!

  8. Hi Sandra,

You've created a perfectly creepy-crawly Halloween table! I love Shakespeare, but am afraid of spiders. ;) I forget about MacBeth being a good story for this time of the year.

Your dinner plates are so pretty, and the salad plates are just plain cute! Your flatware looks a lot like mine. You did a great job with this table; it's so creative. Thanks so much for your visit and kind comments and have a wonderful weekend!

    Hugs,

    Denise
