Visiting the Annual Collectible Glass Show

I couldn't resist going to the 43rd Annual Collectible Glass Show held in Marietta, GA last weekend! It's a tablescaper's dream weekend — to see, touch and buy beautiful glassware in myriad colors and styles. You can find pieces from the early 1900's through the 1970's, some unique, some fairly common. Let's begin!

Art glass and elegant glass

Useful

Fanciful!

Delicate

Bold

Some pottery and china was mixed in with the glassware

Iridescent glass

Vaseline glass

Painted milk glass

Jadeite

Some limited production pieces

Glassware sets

One of my favorites!

Ruby reds

Cobalt blues

And this one, whose photo doesn't quite capture the delicate colors. Priced accordingly, at $1,150.00!

Most of the glassware, however, was priced considerably less, with many lovely pieces in the $10-$40 range. All of it was free from chips and cracks. Some pieces showed evidence of being used — but a lot did not. Much of the glassware was probably used only for special occasions or displayed in cabinets or on tables.

Daughter J and I spent a lovely afternoon admiring many pieces, imagining how they would add the unexpected to contemporary tablescapes. We were drawn to the glassware in gorgeous colors, but there was plenty of clear glassware to be had. Unfortunately in that setting clear glassware just didn't photograph well.

I hope you enjoyed this visit to the glass show! I have lots more photos to share, so I plan on posting a Part 2 soon.
