On the Table: Tropical Birds!

I really enjoy setting tables. It lets me bring a fleeting bit of beauty or joy, sometimes of whimsy or laughter to family and friends.

For this table I started with cheerful placemats and napkins I found last summer at $1.50 each. How could I have passed that up?!

I stacked simple graphic plates that had been our everyday dishes for twenty years and added vintage glass bowls. They pick up some of the colors that can be found in the linens.

Ever since I bought these metal fellows, I've wanted to use them as a centerpiece! I think they're rather cheeky! The parrot and toucan brought a tropical ease to the table, along with these ombre goblets

I liked how the the table was coming together, but I felt it was missing something. When Daughter J and I went to lunch at The Patio Cafe and Bakery in Johns Creek, we found these fabulous cookies. Perfect!

He seems to be checking out the cookies, lol!

We bought two of the watermelon cookies and two of the suns.

I've used these napkin rings several times before -- herehere and here. They're supporting players, rather than stars of the table.

I love the bright colors on the linens and the birds!

To me, clear saturated colors in fun patterns say "It's still Summer."

Repeating rectangles and stripes on linens, plates and flatware introduce a kind of harmony. . .

with an unexpected twist!

Tropical birds and cookies will surely bring smiles 😊.

Thanks for visiting!

  7. Sandra, those birds make for such a happy table. Wouldn't it be amazing to be somewhere tropical right now? And the dishes seem like they were just made for the place mats and napkins. Isn't is great when that happens? The cookies are hilarious. What fun!
