Charnwood Hearts

I have to confess that I have a laissez-faire approach to Valentine's Day. Most of my adult life, February 14 came and went like every other day. The exceptions were the years when my daughter was younger, and I set up Valentine's Tea Parties for her and her friends (and their dolls). I enjoyed them as much as she did!

Since it has been awhile since we celebrated the day of hearts and flowers, I set about creating a table that referenced both themes, while not being overly Valentine-ish.

Pink sets the tone. A strong shade that conveys the holiday.

Flowers and candles represent romance.

A bouquet of luscious flowers echoes the charming blossoms on the salad plates.

Arched lines on the dinner plates, the vintage sherbet glasses. . .

and the tallest candle holders. . .

remind me of garden bowers.

Eight crystal candle holders and six votives (some of which were first seen here) will contribute soft lighting to a relaxed evening.

The table evokes love and friendship, family and companionship. Hidden at each place setting is a sweet heart, the only obviously 'Valentine' decor.

Did you find them? They're in the sherbet glasses, waiting to be discovered.

I think both G and Daughter J will enjoy this. We can bring out the photos of her Valentine's Day parties.

 Quick! Light the candles!

Update

I realized after I posted this last night that I had forgotten to include the goblets! Lol! So I took more pictures this morning, which was a good thing, because the sun finally came out. The sun highlights the blues of the goblets, first seen here. For fun I scattered more hearts on the runner (and glitter all over the table!).

  9. I love this table for so many reasons -- it's elegant, colorful, catches the light so well. But mostly I love it because it could be used as easily at Christmas as at Valentine's Day and that's perfection!

    1. Thank you, Barb! I seem to have missed the past month -- I've been constantly busy, but don't have much to show for it. And I've had a cold that just won't quit, ugh. Hope you continue to enjoy your vacation.
