A Quick and Easy Blooming Tablescape

We are all sitting around our tables every day, probably more than we ever expected to. While staying at home, why not treat ourselves to a pleasing experience? It's as easy as creating a blooming tablescape in just minutes.

I started with the centerpiece of irises blooming in my garden. Any flower will do, whether from a garden, the market, or your stash of silk flowers. I nestled the irises into a ceramic container I found on eBay.

Green placemats reference the garden; lavender napkins add another shade of purple to the table I've left uncovered.

Our everyday dinner plates were layered with vintage luncheon plates and colorful salad plates. The first two plates I already had. I picked up the top plates recently at the market when I made a trip for groceries.

Flower-themed rings hold the napkins, doubled for added interest. The flatware is our everyday set that I began buying with the first bonus I received from my first full-time job.

The solid color blooms are Iris sibirica "Caesar's Brother", a variety of Siberian iris which are tall, graceful plants with slim, grassy foliage. The bi-colored flowers are Iris × germanica "Magic Man", commonly called a bearded iris because of the fuzzy hairs at the top of the falls, seen here in bright orange, thought to help direct pollinators.

The stems of the glassware are a pale sapphire blue, similar to the blue trellis design on the salad plates.

Adorable birds in a nest reflect the activity in the garden. If you've been reading my blog for awhile, you've probably noticed I enjoy collecting whimsical salt and pepper shakers. They're an inexpensive delight!

This is our breakfast table, which also sees most lunches and quite a few dinners. It sits in the open space between the kitchen and family room.

A couple of votives lend a bit of ambiance.

I love the garden theme of these plates, particularly the many hummingbirds along the verge. Did I mention these are paper plates? An easy refresh for everyday settings!

I love sitting at this table, where I can easily watch the birds and squirrels through the window.

In this photo, you can see a bit better the size difference between the two types of irises.

With plenty of cabbage leaves on the container, I didn't add any iris leaves to the arrangement. This cheeky bunny looks rather like the one I often catch sunning herself in the garden!

That's really all it takes — flowers, your regular tableware, and something a bit special!
