So you know how excited I am to be joining friends in a
blog hop hosted by the incomparable Rita of Panoply to share our ideas for Halloween tablescapes. Whether you regularly visit or you've come from My Thrift Store Addiction — I'm glad you're here! After you've explored my table, you'll find all the info for the participating designers.
I began my table with black metal chargers edged with bats in silhouette. The chargers also include skulls which are hidden by the dinner plates rimmed in black and a thin gold accent. On top I placed salad plates that feature jack o'lanterns paired with Halloween archetypes.
I set the plates and chargers on a jacquard tablecloth in creamy tones, then laid a runner on top of it. The runner is covered with a series of eerie scenes in profile, such as haunted houses, bats, ghosts, witches, and trees.
Down the center are bowls serving tasty spiders and crunchy bones. A delightful beginning for any Halloween dinner!
For the table, I stayed within the black and orange color families, accented with a bit of silver for shimmer.
I love using interesting salt and pepper shakers, and these sets are playfully iconic.
For a centerpiece I filled two vintage glass vases with black silk hydrangeas and sprays of sparkling pumpkins.
The vases were described in Halloween in Black and White which has a very different feel.
A delightful Halloween table is full of details that enchant, such as silverplated candlesticks and lovely black-stemmed water and champagne glasses,
where bats swoop down carrying glittering pumpkins,
black cauldrons await the first course, and bold napkins are held by silver-toned rings.
And to bring the shivers to the buffet, I've gathered fall flowers in a striking vase bracketed by potions, books of spells and delightful figures that set the tone for Ghostly Hollow.
I'm so glad you joined me at my Halloween table! Now for more spooky, fun, or eerie inspiration you'll want to delve into these tablescapes!

The silver candlesticks and black stemmed glasses add a wonderful spooky elegance, Happy Halloween!

ReplyDeleteThanks, Cecilia. Both were new additions this year -- I couldn't resist either!
DeleteYour table is delightful!! The S&Ps are so cute and i love the cat. bowl filled with bones! The chargers are also unique! Happy Halloween!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Patti. I love mixing things I've acquired over time!
DeleteSandra, what a fun table! I love the bat chargers - were they are thrifting find - and I had a good chuckle at the pumpkin bowl full of spiders and the cauldrons filled with bones. The vintage vases and silver-plated candle holders add an elegant touch. The stemware is perfect and the vintage plates are so cute. And who can forget about swooping bats from the chandelier? I love how you decorated the buffet too. You are all set for Halloween. It was a pleasure hopping with you today and happy October!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Kim! I found the chargers at Michaels about six years ago. Wish I had gotten more than four! I like using beautiful tableware as the base, then adding fun Halloween touches. The bats did NOT want to stay on the chandelier or the lamp shades, but I was determined not to use tape LOL. Happy Halloween
DeleteHauntingly delightful indeed! Love the vintage-inspired plates and Jack-o-lantern and black cat serving bowls…pass the tasty spiders and crunchy bones my way please! 🕷️🦴Your jacquard tablecloth is a beauty on its own, and your runner is plenty spooky with the silhouette of trees, graves, bats, cats and haunted houses. Love your spooky sense of fun with your bat and glittery pumpkins in your chandy. As always, it’s a treat to join you at the table and hop with you. Happy October! 🎃
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mary! I love the spooky whimsical side of Halloween and have so much fun decorating for it in that style. The plates definitely led the way. Have a wonderful Halloween!

ReplyDeleteThanks, Chloe! I can't resist figural S&P shakers when they have so much personality. They seemed so right for Halloween spirit on a vintage table. Have a great Halloween!
DeleteWhat a cute table for Halloween! I love the vintage-look plates. All the graphics on them are whimsically adorable! I also like the black cat treat bowl. I'm sure your trick-or-treaters will love it! I also love what you did with your light fixture and buffet. The potions are fun, and of course I love the magical books. :D Happy Halloween!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Ricki! Once I had the plates my course was set! Luckily I've been on a vintage streak of late and had several items that complemented them. What's Halloween if not fun?!
DeleteLoved how this came together with the textured tablecloth as a base. The pumpkin plates are darling and set a nice tone for the table. Using all black for the centerpiece and accent pieces works really well. Nice orange accents for the table as well. Have a wonderful Halloween!
ReplyDeleteLynne
Thank you, Lynne! I had set it first with just the runner but felt it needed more contrast and texture. Luckily at the bottom of a tablecloth drawer I discovered this one which I hadn't used in I don't know how long! And black items just seem to go hand-in-hand with Halloween.
DeleteSandra, I love the vintage vibe your table is giving off!! I can picture little kids with those horrible plastic masks coming to your door!! Love the crunchy bones and the tasty spiders!! All the orange and black just adds to that vintage halloween look . Have a fun and safe Halloween!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Ann! Those plastic masks were horrible weren't they?! Halloween costumes then were much simpler, but just as much fun. At least now we can decorate our tables! Happy Halloween!
DeleteSo lovely Sandra; love the traditional colors of Halloween. The vintage looking plates are so cute. The black vases look great along with the black goblets. The touches of orange throughout looks great with black. The cute cat bowl filled with tasty spider and crunchy bones is perfect. Love the cute little ghost salt and pepper shakers. Always a pleasure hopping along with you.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Linda! I've seen Halloween tables that I've enjoyed that didn't incorporate black and orange, but I always come back to this combo, varying the amount of orange or throwing in some other accent colors. Have a wonderfully fun Halloween!
DeleteSandra, I always love your style. I think of Halloween being in orange and black and you did a great job with the color scheme. Those vintage inspired plates are too cute. The crunchy bones and tasty spiders will thrill all the ghosts and goblins! It is always a treat to join you at table. Happy October!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Pam! Jack o'Lanterns and bats are my favorite Halloween critters so I can't resist using their colors in Halloween decor. Have a very happy Halloween!
DeleteSandra, I was immediately drawn to your place settings! The vintage Halloween salad plates are darling! Especially love the cat. The bats and pumpkins in the chandelier are a nice detail. Love the caldron of crunchy bones! So cute :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Maureen, I'm so glad you enjoyed the table! I had to have the plates as soon as I saw them! Happy Halloween

DeleteSandra, I love the look of this tablescape! Thise salad plates are terrific, love the vintage looking images, and the chargers are neat. You have some terrific. Serving pieces on the table, including that cat bowl and those darling salt & peppers. Great additions of the bats and Pumpkins in the candy, along with the black hydrangeas. The colorway is very striking and effective on the overall look of the tabletop and buffet. And I love your lamps on the buffet. Thanks so much for participating and sharing your fun take on Halloween in this blog hop.
