Early spring is all about the fresh new greens in the garden and on the table! I decided to celebrate with an abundance of greens, using fresh flowers from my garden and a variety of green-toned tablewares.
I started from the top down, building the table settings from the appetizer plates in Celtic designs. They have a central golden focal point that is repeated in the plate rims and the lucky gold coins.
As inspiration, I used this photo I took in Ireland a couple of years ago. The emphasis is on the various greens, but the bright yellow tulips and the blue flowers pop against the green!
Underneath the Celtic plates are my hard-working white dinner plates and placemats made of faux leaves.
There are four cultivars of daffodils in the vase, one of which is white. They're backed by luscious camellias, snipped from the shrub next to our side door. The camellias started blooming late this year, impacted by our colder than normal temperatures this winter.
The green wine glasses are some of my favorites. I use them frequently, such as for Summer Bounty and Song of Winter.
I especially liked the different interpretations of Celtic knots in the dishes.
This is a photo I took of a swift flowing river after two days of rain. Springtime greens were everywhere on our trip to Ireland!
I saw many, many daffodils blooming when we were there! I don't recall seeing camellias, but they could have graced private gardens.
When viewed from above, the pop of color is really prominent!
Depression glass bowls hold the lucky shamrock coins. White linens bordered with green are clasped by brass napkin rings with a high shine.
The stories these ruins could tell!
At first I couldn't decide whether to use the brass candlesticks that were on Celtic Patterns for the Table, or go with the ceramic ones. I'm glad I chose these. Their organic leaf-inspired design is a nice counterpoint to the abstract Celtic patterns.
I think this is a fresh spring table that perfectly reflects both my Irish heritage and my husband's!

Thank you, Thelma! We have yet to see snow here in north Georgia, though the Appalachian foothills have had some. But it's only the beginning of March, so who knows? But the daffodils make me happy.
