Autumn Vignettes

I know that many of you regularly create lovely vignettes throughout your homes to celebrate the seasons, holidays or special occasions. I don't usually, generally being content to savor the way mantles or tabletops look for longer periods. But I came down with bronchitis this weekend — so I gave up on my planned tablescape and created two autumn themed vignettes instead. Easier and quicker since I had already retrieved the box of pumpkins from downstairs.

In the foyer I placed the script runner with embroidered flowers that I recently used in this tablescape on the chest from France. I like that the embroidery repeats colors found in the tapestry hanging behind the chest.

A Tang-style ceramic horse also has the deep colors of autumn.

Ivory and white faux flowers are joined by two orange-brushed Birds of Paradise in an arrangement that often sits here in the cooler months.

.

Pumpkins are joined by hefty acorns.

I then added pumpkins and magnolia leaves to the mantle. I've loved the look of the stacked stone since we built the house. But the mantle is tough to style. It sits about head-high and the stone is uneven. Several items have tumbled off through the years, including a Christmas stocking holder onto the head of then 6-year-old Miss J!

The chrysanthemums from Blue and Copper for Effortless Style bracket the simple vignette. The leaning picture of an egret has watched over the family room for a number of years.

A touch of autumn brought inside for November.

Thanks so much for visiting!
