Of Ice and Snow

Two rather rare snowfalls in one winter here in Georgia has me longing for more! So what's a girl to do? Design a table of ice and snow!

I started with a blanket of snow, used recently for a Mistletoe Park village, to cover the table.

White, silver and sparkling crystal dinnerware = ice and snow!

Clear glass salad plates that I've had for many years copy the patterns of ice crystals. I've layered snow white napkins under the plates so that you can see their design.

Vintage glass dessert bowls that Greg inherited from his grandmother display a similar pattern. I hadn't realized the plates and the bowls, separated by several decades, were so alike until I started setting this table.

The crystal glassware bounces the light around, just as snow and ice do.

Hot drinks are a must when it snows! The dinner plates, cups and saucers are a creamy white, with the sparkle of silver accentuating the rims.

Silvered trees form the centerpiece, joined by snowflakes and glass pine cones.

There's a medley of textures and shades, which bring interest to an all-white table.

Snow has drifted into the trees, where the birds have taken shelter.

Aren't they cute? The birds are ornaments; they've temporarily dodged being put away until next Christmas.

Keeping my fingers crossed – there's plenty of winter left for snow!

Dinner plates, cups, saucers | Noritake 'Ranier'
Dessert bowls | Anchor Hocking 'Burple' (Awful name, but a very popular pattern! It was produced in several colors and different items.)
Flatware | Mikasa 'Italian Countryside'
