Christmas Eve Dinner

I'm so glad you could join us! We have hosted dinner on Christmas Eve ever since we were married, a tradition carried over from my parents. The table is at its most formal, for after all the occasion calls for a celebration!

I just love this china! I first saw it when Mikasa was closing its retail stores. Since then we've managed to collect place settings for twelve as well as several serving pieces. It always has pride of place for dinners throughout the Christmas season.

The pattern did not come with bread and butter plates, but I found these at Replacements, which I think go amazingly well.

The golden chargers repeat the gold rims of the plates. The red and gold napkin rings which I've had seemingly forever (but which can still be found online in various colorways) add sparkle and shine.

A poinsettia-patterned cloth runs down the center of the table, covered with a simply designed centerpiece that allows easy conversation across it. Faux greenery adds warmth, and the ornaments and votives contribute color and sparkle.

Our wedding crystal scatters light across the table. . .

and reflects off the silver candlesticks.

In the center are two covered boxes in the shape of reindeer.

One cranberry, the other a pale green.

The buffet is dressed for the season, with a faux garland and reindeer. (And yes there are lots of reindeer scattered throughout the house for the holidays!)

I've treasured these since I found them.

Thank you for joining us for dinner! I'd love to hear from you. Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!

    1. Thanks, Jann! I think Fitz and Floyd makes some of the prettiest holiday pieces. You should treat yourself to crystal -- it plays with light like nothing else. And I'm finding that antique stores and the like often have beautiful pieces at unbelievably low prices.

    1. Thank you! I fell in love with this design when the Mikasa stores were closing and everything was on sale. Although I picked up six place settings, I could kick myself for not buying more at the time. Ever since I've been slowly adding more. My mother-in-law gifted me with pieces for several Christmases.
