Lunch on the New Bistro Table

Join me on the deck for lunch at our bistro table! While we have been sheltering at home (since the end of February) we came to the unavoidable conclusion that our 23-year-old deck had to be replaced. We took the opportunity to expand it by two feet, creating enough space to add a bistro set roomy enough for two.

We are also making changes to the rest of the back yard which are not yet finished. I can't wait to share them! As in any other project, we are currently about two weeks behind.

(Please ignore the construction material and equipment in the photos, lol!)

Back to the table. I chose a 30-inch table, perfectly sized for morning coffee, snacks, desserts or evening cocktails. As you can see, it comfortably holds dinner plate-sized place settings for two.

Rather than using traditionally styled bistro chairs, I used a pair of wicker arm chairs I had bought last year for extra seating at my daughter's graduation party. The blue cushions include some of the same blue shades in the comfy seating at the other end of the deck.

As you may have guessed, I love all shades of blue! And I love these plates and bowls with a Tuscan vibe that were featured in one of my most-viewed tablescapes.  The bold yellow makes the design pop! Being made of melamine makes them ideal for outdoor dining, although I've used them indoors as well.

I'm sure you've noticed that the deck is missing its railing. The railing parts are currently caught up in the shipping woes we've all experienced. "Soon," they say. . .

I've used cheerful yellow and white napkins in an abstract flower print, held by napkin rings in the shape of birds. Both seemed perfect choices for the deck.

Colorful flatware and acrylic glasses add to the fun spirit.

I loved the patterns in the cast aluminum table. The center reminds me of a sunflower surrounded by a lattice design encircled by Celtic knots.

Ceramic bird salt and pepper shakers and turquoise hobnail votives complete the scene.

Greg and I have been enjoying our new table on the new deck, and watching the slow progress on the rest of the back yard. I'm thankful that if we have to stay at home, at least we can be outside.

Take care!
