A Snowy Winter Tablescape

I have to admit I've loved seeing all the photos and videos of snow across the country. I'm longing (probably in vain) for a snowfall here. I really miss watching snow silently coat houses and yards. I miss ice crystals glinting in the sunlight. I miss snowflakes on my face. And so I created a snowy winter scene on my table for lunch.

The table has only received a light dusting of snow today, with crystal stemware and candlesticks representing icicles.

A snowy white runner fills the center of the table, topped at each setting with silver placemats.

I've chosen luncheon plates ringed with evergreens and berries. In the center of each plate are charming portraits of different types of songbirds. I found this group of plates at an antique mall, then hunted additional designs on eBay.

Pine cones can be found everywhere in North Georgia and are a must for my winter tables. I've always loved the sight of cardinals against the snow!

The silver glass trees will be pretty in candlelight!

Silver-tone napkin rings hold damask napkins that match the table runner.

Cute birds nestle among the pine cones. They're designed as inexpensive clip-on ornaments.

A vintage white coffee set awaits on the buffet, flanked by a pair of vintage silver serving dishes and a larger bowl received as a wedding gift.

I've used sixties' stemware etched with naturalistic elements. Those on the iced tea glasses remind me of pine needles.

I think these look like wheat or meadow grasses swaying in the breeze.

The stemware complements the trees, pine cones and birds. I know the champagne/sherbet glass is placed in an unusual position. If I were using it for drinks it would be next to the iced tea glass on the outside. But here I'm using it for cold cilantro lime shrimp with mango salsa that will accompany the steak salad with a creamy balsamic vinaigrette.

Love the swirl patterns!

Thank you for joining me in a snowy winter tablescape!

    1. Thanks, Nellie! I'm not sure I saw the luncheon plates in the stores when they first came out, but I fell for them hard in the antique mall. Found six there, and managed to pick up more designs online.

Thanks, Deb! The mercury glass trees are somewhat large so they usually are set on the mantel or buffet. We're climbing past the freezing point right now!
