A Patriotic Table for the Fourth

Are you ready to celebrate the Fourth of July next week? I've set the table indoors, but it can easily be taken outside if the weather permits.

I ran with the red, white and blue theme, starting with a red and white striped tablecloth that I bought when Miss J was a toddler. She loved its bright colors. The tablecloth reverses to a navy ground with white stars. Two for the price of one!

A white dinner plate, used in several posts including Silver and Gold, is topped by a blue star-shaped salad plate made of heavy paper (shhh, don't tell!).

I cut four pieces of an inexpensive garland to tie around navy blue napkins. They remind me of fireworks!

The plates are joined by vintage depression glass plates that we'll use for dessert.

Each place setting has a red balloon wine glass, found on eBay (before I learned to read the fine print regarding sizes!). Although larger than I intended to buy, the stems have made several appearances for dinner, as you can see in A Table for la Fete Nationale

Uncle Sam has brought his own sparkler to the table. He's dressed in his very best!

Uncle Sam is a nutcracker that I've had for what seems like forever.

I placed white carnations in a vintage hammered aluminum bowl and threaded a red and blue garland through them.

I often like to decorate the chest to coordinate with the table. I used part of a fabric bunting on the front, and the rest of the garland used for the napkins around the pitcher.

Paper lanterns and streamers add more color.

It's a fun table that doesn't take itself too seriously!

Hope you have a happy Fourth of July!

  3. You are ready Sandra for the 4th. Lovely stripped table cloth and the star plates are perfect for the occasion. I don't think I have any table linens with stripes at all. Happy July 4th.
