Tulips for Easter

Spring is a riot of colors after winter's drab cloak!

To bring the look inside, I set the table for an Easter brunch with flowers.

I added swans frolicking in tulips of several colors.

I used a flower-drenched table runner in pastels that came home with me last year.

And in the center are various shades of pink faux tulips in a vintage vase. I had wanted to use tulips from the yard, but the only ones that have bloomed so far served as a midnight snack for the deer that visit several nights a week! These certainly reflect the exuberance of spring in the landscape.

I wanted the plate stack to capture the greens, blues and yellows of spring. The dinner plates and silverware are our wedding patterns, which we both still love. A friend gave me the lovely dessert plates that are topped with antique sherbet glasses in a softer blue (which I also used here).

I think the cutwork and embroidery on the napkins mimic irises. I had sent them to the cleaners so they are a bit crisper than usual!

I just had to use these hand-crafted pewter salt cellars that I bought at the recent American Craft Council show. The first is a flower pod, the second a ginkgo leaf. I love that the spoons are small twigs.

I often decorate the buffet in the same theme as the table. In the center I placed a gorgeous swan tureen, flanked by faux tulips that I had found last month.

A different setting, a different arrangement – I always try to use what I have in different ways.

I have had the swans for more than 20 years, and always showcase them in the spring.

I think this table would be festive for any brunch or dinner in spring!

Happy Easter!

  1. Your table is beautiful! Love the dish stack and the pretty soft blue sherbet stemware. The colorful table runner brings in a nice punch of color. Too bad the deer munched away your tulips! That has happened to me too- so frustrating! Looks to me like you are all set for Easter!

    1. It is frustrating when my flowers get eaten! The bunnies got my crocuses and hyacinths, the deer nipped off the tulips but left the stems. The bunches of stems look rather comical! Thanks so much for leaving your comments - they made my day. Happy Easter

  5. I was just looking at that table runner today! It's gorgeous. Have you had it long enough to have to wash it? I was a little leery about buying it, because it needs such delicate handling. Lovely table.
