Tea and Cinnamon Toast

Well, I've decided to take a break this afternoon. The perfect choice for a lovely winter's day is a pot of tea and my favorite type of toast - cinnamon. I've set up everything here by the window.

I could have just filled a mug with hot water and a tea bag, and grabbed some toast with a napkin. But I think treating yourself well is as important as treating guests well.

And so my table is set with a pretty teacup and saucer and a luncheon-sized plate.

This table usually holds the cordless house phone, various chargers for cell phones and tablets, and the small lamp described below. Today it holds a lustrous tray with a sugar and creamer set on a subtle plaid scarf.

The sterling teapot was borrowed from the living room. We bought it at Atlanta's Miami Circle quite some time ago.

The ceramic horse is actually a "TV lamp." These small 1950's lamps were styled to look like animals or objects and were originally designed to softly illuminate the wall behind the TV. Fairly soon they were wildly popular and made just to showcase the TV cabinet. We also have a panther version in a gorgeous deep brown. I think they're a hoot!

Sipping my tea, I'm engrossed in the book I received as a Christmas present. Page after page of pictures to drool over!

Thanks for stopping by! Next week I'll join you for dinner. At eight?

  9. Sandra, that is such a beautiful vignette. That china pattern looks like one that would be perfect throughout winter. I've never seen a TV lamp before, so that was very informative. (And I thought I was the only person on the planet who said "hoot!")

    1. Thanks, Jean. I've used the china for several occasions and I just adore it. My husband had inherited a puma-shaped lamp and got intrigued, so now we have several. The horse is my favorite.

    1. Thanks so much! We've had freeze warnings the last three nights, but the sunny days have been gorgeous. I wouldn't mind snow, but I'm glad we're out from under all the rain.
