Spring Colors in Vintage Glassware

Sunday's official start to Spring reminded me that I hadn't yet shared the next installment of vintage glassware from the 44th Vintage and Collectible Glass Show, hosted in October by the Peach State Depression Glass Club. It seemed appropriate to choose glassware in lovely bright greens that call to mind new leaves, and vivid yellows that are everywhere in garden daffodils. Enjoy!

A pretty dessert set.

This pedestal plate has an ombré effect, blending an almost opaque white into an acid yellow-green, often called "Vaseline glass". Containing trace amounts of uranium, the glass will glow under ultraviolet lights, though it is considered harmless and food-safe.

Painted milk glass.

Small 5 ounce wineglasses.

Covered cheese plate set.

One of the more unusual colors of green I found.

Although you can't see it in the photo, the pitcher had a lip to prevent ice cubes from falling into the glass as you poured.

This was labeled as a "vase" — what do you think?

A centerpiece bowl and matching candle holders for an elegant table.

If my basket hadn't been full, this vase may have come home!

I loved the colors on display in this booth.

Perfect for St Patrick's Day!

Some of the dealers had decorative pottery. I thought these impala vases were gorgeous.

Thanks for joining me to view what I think of spring colors in vintage glassware! To see more beautiful examples of glassware from the early 1900's to the 1970's, be sure to visit All the Shades of Red, The Blues of Vintage Glassware and All the Colors of the Rainbow.

    1. All the glassware was gorgeous! I took sooo many photos! I've gone to the show for a number of years and always come home with something. This time I was on a mission for wine glasses and found a lovely set in amber/yellow. I also bought a small oval serving bowl in a pattern I already own, and a dramatic set of bookends. Thanks for stopping by!

    1. I was really impressed by the colorful array at this year's show. There wasn't as many green and yellow items compared to blues and reds, but the designs were lovely. If I hadn't already exceeded my budget, I'd have scooped up those goblets!

    1. I'm sure you'd love the shows, Mary Jo! I am so amazed what beautiful, distinctive glassware they display. Much, much more than in the typical antique store or vintage mall. There might be similar annual shows located near you. I just stumbled on the one I go to when I saw a flyer in an antique mall one year.

  7. Sandra, I love this table!!! The pansy plates are amazing and look tremendous with the lattice plates! The pansies are one of my favorite flowers and one with a long growing season throughout fall/winter/spring here in TX. Also, your retriever salt and pepper piece is gorgeous! Thanks for posting such a beautiful table! Patty

  8. oops - sorry, I linked my pansy post with this glassware one by mistake. I will write a new one for this, and try to comment on the pansy one in the correct place.
